Rockstar's most controversial title.
Story (spoiler free)
Daniel Lamb is a patient from the Dixmor Asylum, which houses psychopaths. After a storm knocks out its electricity, he escapes and meets up with a fellow patient named Leo Kasper. The pair then must fight their way to uncover the truth behind "The Project", a clandestine scientific experiment.
Gameplay
Manhunt 2, similar to its predecessor is a stealth game. Daniel must hide in dark areas and kill enemies without being seen. He uses an array of weapons, ranging from a syringe to gardening shears. In addition to that, some levels also allow the player to use firearms such as a pistol, a submachine gun, and an assault rifle. When killing enemies, the player has the option to intensify the way they do it. Divided into three levels, hasty, violent, and gruesome.
Hasty- Immediately tapping the execute button triggers this. It is marked by a white reticle
Violent- Press the execute button for two seconds. It is marked by a yellow reticle
Gruesome- Press the execute button for three seconds. It is marked by a red reticle (this is the most violent way of execution)
On the other hand, the player can kill enemies from an elevated position, or use the environment to kill opponents. (E.g. choking them using a telephone cord, smashing their head against a circuit breaker)
Sound
Manhunt 2 is already scary, and it gets spookier due to its ambient sound, reminiscent of a horror film. The dialogue can be, a bit cringy. However, Daniel Lamb's voice actor provides a decent amount of performance.
The Verdict
Manhunt 2 is quite entertaining, albeit tainted by extreme violence. it has a decent story and a little bit of over-the-top gameplay. A fair warning: anyone below 18 cannot play this game!
